In August 2024, Antje Hoering, PhD, Chief Executive Officer of Cancer Research And Biostatistics (CRAB), traveled to Portland, Oregon to attend the board meeting of the American Statistical Association - ASA, a professional organization dedicated to advancing the practice of statistics (https://www.amstat.org/). This meeting took place right before the Joint Statistical Meeting (JSM), an annual event that serves as a crucial gathering for leaders and experts within the statistical community to address emerging challenges and shape the future of statistical science (https://lnkd.in/d4AaSd34).
Emily Goren, PhD, Senior Biostatistician attended the conference and presented her research on “Comprehensive simulation-based comparison of power calculation methods for the log-rank test.” This work provides practitioners with valuable guidance and emphasizes the need to derive the distribution of the log-rank test under general alternatives. SWOG Cancer Research Network director, Michael LeBlanc, PhD and CRAB founder, John Crowley, PhD are co-authors. The session drew keen interest from attendees, highlighting CRAB's commitment to advancing biostatistical research and dedication to staying at the forefront of statistical advancements, furthering our mission of conquering cancer.
